Snorkeling in Hawaii

Hawaii is a snorkeling paradise. It doesn't matter which islands of the Hawaiian archipelago you decide to vacation on, you can find excellent places for this type of sailing everywhere. You can snorkel yourself or contact a company that organizes such tours.

If you have never snorkeled and fins before, or are unfamiliar with Hawaiian beaches, then you will need the help of specialists. If you are confident in your abilities and want to swim on your own, then first find a suitable beach.

If you choose to hire a snorkeling tour company, you will not only get excellent sailing on the best beaches in Hawaii, but also a lot of unexpected fun. Some companies also organize boat trips, from the side of which you will discover amazing landscapes. Some coral reefs are located some distance from the coast or in places that are not easily accessible. Usually during snorkeling you can see many marine lives: dolphins, sea turtles and tropical fish. Some tours include fishing, water rides and even barbecues. Travel companies can offer you a picnic on the picturesque beach, where you can completely relax under the shade of the palm trees.

Snorkeling companies will provide you with all the equipment you need to swim. Some can even take you from the hotel to the boat and back for free. If you decide to go snorkeling in the winter, then you have the chance to see humpback whales that swim into the waters of Hawaii every winter.

And for the biggest snorkeling fans, it is worth living in Hawaii. Or you can even buy a home to come for a long time or swim in the waters of Hawaii. It is best to buy housing in Honolulu. Take a look at real estate on Honolulu and buy the house you like best. When you have your own home, then coming to Hawaii for a longer period, you will be able to enjoy snorkeling to the fullest.

Snorkeling spots on Oahu

The best spot for snorkeling on Oahu is the famous Hanauma Bay, whose amazing inhabitants attract visitors from all over the world. It is home to over 450 species of tropical fish, most of which you can see while swimming, such as the Humuhumunukunukuapuaa fish, the official state symbol. There is a coral reef in the bay that is worth seeing. In addition to tropical fish and reef, you can see sea turtles and eels.

Since the bay is a unique natural site, it was turned into a state underwater reserve. The admission ticket costs $ 5 for all non-Hawaiian people. We recommend that you wear safety shoes as they can protect you from nasty coral cuts.

Another popular swimming spot is Shark's Cove Reef, located just off the North Shore of the island.

Snorkeling spots on Maui

Maui has four water reserves – Honolua Bay, Ahihi Bay, La Perouse Bay and Molokihi crater. These sanctuaries are the most popular snorkeling spots. Therefore, if you are staying near them, do not miss the opportunity to visit the first three. Molokikha crater cannot be accessed from the beach, but many of the island's travel companies will be happy to organize a trip there for you.

Honolua Bay is located north of the city of Kapalua. The best time to snorkel here is in summer when the water is warm. Ahihi Bay is located south of Makena Big Beach. This is a very secluded place with an amazing underwater world and a unique combination of coral reefs and solidified lava.

Snorkeling spots on the island of Kauai

Kauai's warm waters are home to many species of tropical fish, some of which you won't find anywhere else in the world. A popular swimming spot is Kee Lagoon, which is located in the northern part of the island near Haena Beach Park. Another favorite is Tunnels Reef with stunning underwater views. This location is ideal for experienced divers. If you are snorkeling for the first time, then you will need a guide.

If you are vacationing in Kauai during the summer, then we advise you to visit Anini Beach Park, which is excellent for snorkeling. However, in the wintertime, snorkeling is not worth it because of the high waves and strong currents.

If you're just getting started scuba diving, head to Lydgate Park. A special stone wall has been installed here, which protects from strong currents. Alternatively, you can visit Salt Pond Park, Beach House and Poipu Beach Park.

Snorkeling spots on the Big Island

The most popular places are Kealakekua Bay, located on the Kona coast, 19 kilometers from the city of Honolulu-Kona. Kealakeua Bay is a marine reserve that can only be reached by boat from the city of Napoopoo. In the bay you can find tropical fish and coral reefs. The water here stays warm all year round.

Another place for snorkeling is Pawai Bay.
